Fun Fact:
Patrice Simard started playing wheelchair rugby in 1997 after he sustained a spinal cord injury in a car accident. His athleticism and intelligence allowed him to climb quickly in the ranks. He made the team in 1999. Today, Patrice is known for being one of the best low-point players in the world. His strength and quickness allows him to defend players well above his classification and he is one of the few low-point players to play a major scoring role. Leading up to the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Patrice was featured in the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Super Athletes series, where he was given the superhero nickname ‘The Pitbull.’
